The ridge is a flattening of the southwest ridge to the Widderfeldgrätli ( 2632  m above sea level ) in the Bernese Oberland north above Grindelwald . It can be reached by cable car or on foot. The upper mountain station is also called First ( 2167  m above sea level ) and is available to visitors in winter and summer with a well-developed skiing and hiking area.

The hike to the Bachalpsee and on to the Faulhorn , which offers a spectacular panorama with a view of the upper Grindelwald glacier as well as the Eiger , Mönch and Jungfrau , is particularly popular . Another interesting hike leads to the Schwarzhorn . Grosse Scheidegg is 5.6 kilometers east of First on foot .

Its summit and vantage point is a little northwest of the First mountain inn, which is right next to the cable car station, at an altitude of 2184  m above sea level. M.

The First is a starting point for paragliders and delta sailors as well as the starting point for numerous mountain bike tours . Station First also offers an impressive, winding toboggan run, which leads directly to Grindelwald when the snow conditions are good.
