The Bachalpsee - the widely used name for the Bachsee - is a picturesque, small mountain lake on the First above Grindelwald in the Bernese Alps . It is located at 2265 m above sea level. M. and consists of two parts, separated by a small natural dam, the lower part of which is seven meters lower. From its bank there is a wonderful panorama of the mountains further south, covered with eternal ice, including the Wetterhorn ( 3692 m ), Schreckhorn ( 4078 m ) and Finsteraarhorn ( 4274 m ). The area around the lake is a moorland of national importance, through which the Mühlebach meanders. The diverse flora is explained on a nature trail.
The hike from First to Bachalpsee is one of the most popular hikes in the region and is part of the First - Faulhorn - Schynige Platte hiking route .
The Milibach flows from the Bachalpsee over the Bachläger waterfall into the Schwarze Lütschine .
