Berlin Antike College

The Berliner Antike-Kolleg (BAK) is a cross-institutional facility for the promotion of ancient research in Berlin . It was founded in May 2011 in order to sustainably secure and continuously develop the networking of the Berlin ancient studies established in the Topoi Cluster of Excellence .

The BAK is supported by six research institutions:

The BAK combines three work areas under one roof: In the Research Center of Ancient Studies (RCAS), Berlin researchers come together with colleagues from Germany and abroad to work together on the identification and design of new research topics, the Berlin Graduate School of Ancient Studies (BerGSAS) offers a cross-disciplinary and cross-institutional graduate education in a total of five doctoral programs and the Repositories - Editions - Materials (REM) area serves as a service platform to promote the exchange of digital strategies and formats in the field of classical studies. In addition, in its cross-sectional area of Knowledge Transfer & Communication (KTC) , the BAK designs formats for target-group-specific communication of ancient research results.

The Berliner Antike-Kolleg is headed by an eight-member board of directors. Its members include Cilliers Breytenbach , Philip van der Eijk , Michael Meyer , Philipp von Rummel , Jürgen Renn , Tonio Sebastian Richter , Andreas Scholl and Monika Trümper . The board consists of Philip van der Eijk, Michael Meyer and Philipp von Rummel.
