The Bernard van Lengerich Group (BvL) with the holding company Bernard van Lengerich Maschinenfabrik GmbH & Co. KG is a German family company based in Emsbüren ( Emsland district ). There are three business areas within the group: machine factory , surface technology and electrical engineering . The main business of the machine factory is the production of agricultural machines for feeding technology. The surface technology division manufactures cleaning and degreasing systems. Electrical installations are offered in the electrical engineering business area.

history

The company was founded in 1860 as a blacksmith and wagon blacksmith by Gerhard van Lengerich in Emsbüren in southern Emsland . His son and namesake of the company Bernard van Lengerich began his apprenticeship as a farrier and wagon blacksmith with his father and completed it with the master blacksmith Peters in Rheine . Later he came for further training in the agricultural machinery dealer and threshing machine factory C. Haasemann & Sons in Linden near Hanover . In 1883 he took over his father's forge as a master blacksmith.

From 1908 Bernard van Lengerich only manufactured plows and also traded in agricultural machinery . BvL-Elektrotechnik was founded in 1923. The company was already exporting plows to South Africa in the 1930s . His three sons Wilhelm, Theodor and Heinrich van Lengerich took over the company in the third generation in 1939 and moved the production area from the town center to the current location. In 1960 the development and production of fodder beet pulling machines began. Since 1970 bale conveyors and bale loaders have been built. 1974 saw the construction of the first silage block cutter for removing silage from the silage stock and extensive specialization and concentration of BvL on the area of ​​feeding technology. In 1978 the first vertical feed mixer wagon was developed and manufactured. In 1989, BvL Oberflächentechnik was founded to develop and manufacture industrial cleaning systems as a further pillar of the company.

Today the company is managed by the fifth generation of the family. In 2010, BvL celebrated the company's 150th anniversary with an open house; Lower Saxony's Prime Minister David McAllister took part as the opening speaker .

A patent application has been filed for parts of the dragonfly at the European Patent Office. This division employed 130 people in the 2018 financial year and generated around 23 million euros in sales in 2018.
