Bernardino Fernández de Velasco y Mendoza (* 1454 , † February 9, 1512 in Burgos ) was a Spanish nobleman, military leader and politician, who is also known by his nickname El Gran Condestable . Life

As the son of Pedro Fernández de Velasco y Manrique de Lara (1425–1492) and his wife Catalina Suárez de Figueroa , he was born into one of the most important families in Spain.
