Bernardo de Iturriaza (* 1608 in Ezcaray , Rioja , Spain ; † 1678 in Lima , today: Peru ) was a Spanish lawyer who temporarily served as viceroy of Peru .

Iturriaza studied at the University of Alcalá de Henares law . After completing his studies, he stayed as a teacher at the university and took over the chair for pandects and decretals .

Around 1640 he moved to the New World and began to work at the Real Audiencia of Lima . In 1647 he was appointed criminal judge ( alcalde del crimen ) there. In 1652 he was promoted to Oidor .

As senior judge ("dean") of the Audiencia, he took over the office of viceroy on an interim basis in March 1666, when the incumbent Diego Benavides de la Cueva died in office according to the regulations of the Spanish colonial administration . His brief tenure was largely uneventful. It ended with the arrival of the new viceroy Pedro Antonio Fernández de Castro .

Iturriaza must have given up his office as dean of the Audiencia in the following years, because at the death of Viceroy Fernández de Castro in 1672 Álvaro de Ibarra took over the administration of the colony as the senior oidor.

Bernardo de Iturriaza died in Lima in 1678.
