Bernd-Christian Funk

Bernd-Christian Funk (born September 14, 1943 in Trofaiach ) is an Austrian legal scholar .

Life

After studying law at the University of Vienna doctorate radio 1968 Dr. iur. ; He completed his studies in business education at the Vienna University of Economics and Business with the degree of Mag. rer. soc. oec. from. In 1974 Funk completed his habilitation with the thesis The procedural free administrative act . He then worked as a scientific advisor at the Austrian Chamber of Commerce until 1978 ; and from 1978 to 1999 he held a full professorship at the Institute for Public Law, Political Science and Administrative Studies at the University of Graz . In August 1999 he then moved to the Institute for University Law and University Management at the University of Linz . From October 1999 Funk taught at the Institute for Constitutional and Administrative Law at the University of Vienna, after retiring he was the founding dean of the Faculty of Law at the Sigmund Freud University of Vienna .

In March 2007, in the debate about the introduction of preventive detention in Austria, Funk stated that the possibility of preventive detention was characteristic of dictatorships. In October of the same year, with regard to the planned introduction of the online manhunt in Austria , he said that it could be unconstitutional.

Funk is a member of the advisory board of the scientific open access journal Momentum Quarterly, which was founded in 2012 .

From 2018 to 2023 he is a member of the University Council of the Medical University of Innsbruck .
