Bernd Beyer (* 1955 in Cottbus ) is a German writer and publisher .

life and work

Beyer grew up in Forst (Lausitz) . He trained as an electrical signal mechanic and joined the People's Police in 1977 . In 1996 he left the police with the rank of police chief inspector, where he last worked for the central service of the Brandenburg police. From 1996 to 2020 Beyer was head of department at the State Office for Social Affairs and Supply (LASV) of the State of Brandenburg in Cottbus.

Beyer comes from a literarily active family; his great-grandmother, grandmother, mother and their brother wrote poems and short stories that were published in newspapers and journals, on the radio or on television. Bernd Beyer also wrote poetry and thus achieved top places in regional and national competitions. From 1985 to 1988 he was involved in the Cottbus cabaret “Die Stadtwächter” and wrote several cabaret sketches and until 2003 other short stories. After a break, Beyer began writing short stories again in 2011.

Beyer is a member of the Free German Association of Authors and was a co-founder of the Brandenburg Authors' Round Table. The stories in his books are often bizarre.

In 2015, Bernd Beyer founded Haileiht-Verlag, where he publishes books by other authors in addition to his own publications.
