Bernd Fahrholz

Bernd Fahrholz (born August 4, 1947 in Oldenburg ) is a German lawyer who was CEO of Dresdner Bank AG from May 1, 2000 to March 25, 2003 .

Life

Bernd Fahrholz studied law in Göttingen and Hamburg and passed both state exams. After completing his studies, he worked as a research assistant at the University of Hamburg (finance and tax law), where he received his doctorate in 1978 on “ Leasing in the balance sheet ”.

Bernd Fahrnholz came in 1977 as general counsel in the legal department of Dresdner Bank. In 1985 he switched to the commercial side, where he worked in various departments (corporate finance) and was appointed general manager in 1996. Since 1998 he has been a member of the board of directors and became its chairman in 2000. In the course of the takeover of Dresdner Bank AG by the insurance company Allianz AG, Munich, in 2001 he also became Deputy Chairman of the Board of Management of Allianz. Fahrholz resigned both board memberships in 2003. Since then he has worked in an advisory capacity in international finance.

In addition to his work for the bank, he has been teaching tax law in the law faculty at the Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main since 1995 and published the book "New Forms of Corporate Financing". For this, the University appointed him honorary professor in 2000 . In 2002 Bernd Fahrholz was made an Honorary Senator of the Goethe University in Frankfurt in recognition of his many services to the university. In addition, Bernd Fahrholz is the editor of several books, including a. "Freedom and Democracy - Memorial Event for the Victims of the Terrorism Year 1977".

Bernd Fahrholz was a member of the supervisory board of numerous national and international large companies. These include the premium automobile manufacturer BMW AG , the major French bank BNP Paribas SA, Paris, the world's leading kidney dialysis provider Fresenius Medical Care (FMC) and HeidelbergCement AG, one of the world's leading manufacturers of building materials .

As CEO of Dresdner Bank AG , Bernd Fahrholz was appointed as a non-executive member of the 12-person 'Board of Directors' of the Argentine bank Banco General de Negocios SA (BGN) in 2001, as was the CEO of the other major banks and co-shareholders of BGN, Lukas Mühlemann from Credit Suisse and William Harrison from JPMorgan Chase . In connection with the insolvency of BGN in 2002, the Argentine central bank, as the banking supervisory authority, finally established in 2010 that the bankruptcy was caused by fraudulent activities by individual managing directors of the bank and that, on the other hand, there was misconduct by the three foreign non-managing directors - and thus also from Bernd Fahrholz - was not available. Incidentally, in December 2008 an Argentine judge issued a local arrest warrant against the three foreign directors, which she subsequently wanted to have issued internationally. Your request was finally rejected by Interpol in 2011 due to the failure to meet the minimum requirements.
