Vahrholz is a district of the village and town of Kalbe (Milde) in the Altmarkkreis Salzwedel in Saxony-Anhalt .

geography

The Altmark Vahrholz, a village with a church, located between Salzwedel and Kalbe (Milde) on the calf ash Werder about three kilometers north of Kalbe (Milde). The Lower Milde flows in the south of the village .

history

The village of Vahrholz was first mentioned as Vorholt in 1324 , when Hans and Heinecke von Kröcher sold Kalbe Castle and the associated villages to Albrecht von Alvensleben . The spelling " Fahrholz" was still in use in the 19th century .

Incorporations

On July 1, 1950, the community was Vahrholz from Salzwedel in the district Gardelegen reclassified. On May 23, 1973, the municipality of Vahrholz was incorporated into the town of Kalbe (Milde).

The Protestant parish Vahrholz formerly belonged to the parish Kalbe (Milde) and today belongs to the parish Kalbe-Kakerbeck of the parish of Salzwedel in the provost district of Stendal-Magdeburg of the Evangelical Church in Central Germany .

Culture and sights

The Protestant village church of Vahrholz, a medieval stone church from around 1200, is a branch church of Kalbe.
