Bernd Fuhrmann

Bernd Fuhrmann (born November 3, 1960 in Frankfurt am Main ; † January 8, 2020 ) was a German historian and professor for medieval and early modern history at the University of Siegen and dealt with social and economic history.

Fuhrmann received his doctorate in 1995 from the University of Siegen under Ulf Dirlmeier (The budget of the city of Marburg in the late Middle Ages and early modern times) . In 2002 he completed his habilitation in Siegen through Konrad von Weinsberg . Until his death he was an adjunct professor at the University of Siegen.

Fuhrmann dealt with economic and social history in the Middle Ages and the early modern period, especially in cities (credit, wages, housing, taxes, alms and social benefits, city budgets, etc.) and wrote books about the city in the Middle Ages. He is co-author of the volume Europe in the Middle Ages in the Oldenbourg Outlines of History series .
