Bernd Hildebrandt (theologian)

Bernd Hildebrandt (born September 6, 1940 in Frankfurt (Oder) ; † February 26, 2020 in Greifswald ) was a German Protestant theologian and professor of systematic theology .

Life

Bernd Hildebrandt studied Protestant theology at the Humboldt University in Berlin and was awarded a Dr. theol. PhD. In 1978 he completed his habilitation at the University of Greifswald with an investigation into the problem of natural theology with Karl Barth . In 1979 he was appointed university lecturer for systematic theology in Greifswald. In 1983 he took over the chair for systematic theology here. In 2006 he retired.

From 1992 to 2012 he was synodal and member of the church leadership of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church and from 2012 to 2013 a member of the provisional church leadership of the Northern Church .
