Bernd Küster

Bernd Küster (* 1952 ) is a German art historian .

biography

Küster studied art history, literary studies and philosophy at the University of Marburg and was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD . Subsequently, among others, Marburg , Osterholz-Scharmbeck and Bremen were his professional stations. From 1991 to 1999 he was director of the Kunsthalle Wilhelmshaven and then director of the State Museum for Art and Cultural History in Oldenburg . Since 2002 he has been teaching in the art / art education department at the University of Osnabrück and became an honorary professor in 2003appointed. From August 2009 until his retirement at the end of December 2017, he was director of the Hessen Kassel museums . He has been a member of the Historical Commission for Hesse since 2015 .

Küster has written numerous artist monographs and catalogs for art exhibitions.

In 1987 Küster received the first Otto Ubbelohde Prize from the Marburg-Biedenkopf district .
