career

Before the 1968/69 season, Michel moved from the then regional league team KSV Hessen Kassel to the "Knappen". There he had previously scored 20 goals in 61 games. At Schalke 04 he excelled in preparation and scored all goals for his team in the final of the Coppa delle Alpi in a 3-1 win over FC Basel . His goals against Basel not only gave Schalke the Alpine Cup, but also a bonus of 10,000 marks.

His coach at the time, Günter Brocker, judged the striker from North Hesse: "A great talent that makes up for the lack of technique with his enormous speed." Nevertheless, he was unable to assert himself in the Bundesliga. In his only season as a professional, he only made four missions and then left the club in the direction of Prussia Münster . In 1973/74 he played at Karlsruher SC and scored six goals in 19 games in the Regionalliga Süd.

Until his retirement on July 13, 2010 he was a teacher at the Realschule zur Windmühle in Ennigerloh , teaching geography and English . He also looked after the school soccer teams and organized annual class tournaments.
