Bernd Purkrabek
Bernd Purkrabek (born 1982 ) is an Austrian lighting designer who works at major opera houses .
life and work
Bernd Purkrabek went to school at the Ortwein Higher Technical College in Graz. After training in the fields of audiovisual media and photography in Graz, he initially worked as a film lighting technician before completing a degree in lighting design at the University of Music and Theater in Munich . Purkrabek initially assisted Reinhard Traub and Asa Frankenberg and has been working independently since 2009. Purkrabek was u. a. at the Deutsche Oper Berlin , the Royal Opera Stockholm and the Oslo Opera , at De Nederlandse Opera , at the Grand Théâtre de Genève and at the Teatro Real in Madrid as well as at the Glyndebourne Festival . He has been working continuously with the Theater an der Wien since 2009 .
