Bernd Schurf

Bernd Schurf (born November 3, 1943 in Nettesheim ) is a German didactic specialist and editor of German textbooks for secondary levels I and II.

life and work

After studying German , Romance studies and linguistics in Freiburg im Breisgau with Friedrich Maurer and Hugo Friedrich and in Cologne with Fritz Tschirch , Werner Keller , Walter Hinck and Harald Weinrich , Bernd Schurf was a teacher at the grammar school, head of German at the Düsseldorf study seminar, and a specialist consultant Moderator for the subject German at the district government of Düsseldorf, long-time member of the Scientific Examination Office in Cologne and lecturer for subject didactics of German at the University of Cologne .

In 1978 the first German textbook, "Literature and Interaction", which he co-authored and edited, was published for the upper school level. 1979 with "Text + Dialog", also for upper secondary level, the first textbook family with basic volume, course books and project volumes.

After the series "Stations of Literature", which brought together canonical readings for German lessons, followed with "Texts, Topics and Structures" a textbook for the upper level, which has been available since 1990 in numerous editions and regional editions, with accompanying workbooks, learning software, handouts for the teaching and copy template collections for high school readings found wide distribution in all federal states. The “Texts-Subjects-and-Structures” family comprises over 100 individual titles. It is supplemented by the series “Course Themes German”, which offers in-depth material on central topics of the upper level.

Since 1997, Bernd Schurf has published the “Deutschbuch”, a textbook for secondary level I with editions for various federal states and school types. The wreath of textbooks contains student books, workbooks, handouts, collections of copy templates as well as learning and planning software as well as audio books, reference works and a literary history. The various series have already seen several revisions, and there are over 500 titles in total.

Bernd Schurf is married and has one son.
