Bernd Tilner

Bernd Tilner (born August 3, 1959 ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper .

The young goalkeeper came in 1981 from the amateurs of FC Schalke 04 to the second division club SG Wattenscheid 09 , where his younger brother Martin also played, and was initially number 2 behind the experienced Manfred Behrendt . In the 1982/83 season Tilner started as No. 1 in goal, but after seven defeats in the first seven games of the season he was replaced by Behrendt. From 1981 to 1983 Bernd Tilner made 23 appearances in the 2nd Bundesliga. In the summer of 1983 he moved to 1. FC Bocholt in the Oberliga Nordrhein . With the team around Paul Holz and the young striker Michael Tönnies , he won the league title in 1983/84 and reached the promotion games to the 2nd Bundesliga, but in the promotion round the club failed due to Blau-Weiß 90 Berlin and FC St. Pauli .
