Manfred Behrendt (born October 2, 1950 in Bochum ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper .

Career

Behrendt began his career in 1971 with SG Wattenscheid 09 , with which he qualified in 1974 for the newly created 2nd Bundesliga . For the 1976/77 season he moved to Göttingen 05 for a year and then returned to SG 09. Until 1984 he guarded the gate at SG Wattenscheid 09, where he then ended his career.

In 1978 Behrendt was part of the German amateur national team , for which he played four games.

His greatest successes were winning the West German Championship in 1974 and the games in the DFB Cup 1973/74, which only lost to Hamburger SV in the semi- finals. Behrendt played a total of 295 second division games for SG Wattenscheid and Göttingen 05.

In the 2005/06 season he was goalkeeping coach of the licensed team of Rot-Weiß Oberhausen . From the beginning of 2006 to summer 2011, Behrendt was assistant coach behind Hans-Günter Bruns and later took on the dual function of assistant coach and goalkeeper coach. At the SG Wattenscheid 09 he was voted legend of the century by fans . Today he works as a sports advisor for amateur football in Bochum. For the 2014/15 season he was the goalkeeping coach of the first team at Rot-Weiss Essen .
