Bernd Voland (born November 7, 1939 in Jena ) is a German professor of geochemistry .

biography

After graduating from high school in 1957, Bernd Voland studied mineralogy at the Technical University Bergakademie Freiberg until 1963 at the Adolf Reichwein Oberschule in Jena . The doctorate to Dr. rer. nat. took place in 1967 with his work "On the geochemistry of the element indium" in the working group of Hans Jürgen Rösler . For the field of geochemistry he was awarded the facultas docendi in 1982 with the subsequent doctorate B until 1984 to become Dr. sc. nat. with a thesis on the topic: "Anthropogenic changes in the geochemistry of the landscape - a contribution to environmental geochemistry". Instead of the academic degree Dr.sc.nat. and the acquired facultas docendi , the award of the academic degree Dr. rer. nat. habil.

From 1969 to 1971 Prof. Voland worked as a guest lecturer at the Universidad Autónoma Tomás Frias in Potosí , Bolivia, whereupon he returned to Freiberg in 1972 . Bernd Voland worked there until 2004 as a senior scientific assistant, lecturer, full professor and later as a consultant at HPC Harress Pickel Consult AG on contaminated sites, the assessment of geochemical processes and the behavior of pollutants, especially heavy metals in the soil, groundwater and running waters and landfills (environmental geochemistry).

Research work

In addition to the behavior of indium during geological processes and its occurrence in rocks of endogenous and exogenous areas of formation, genetic aspects of the specific indium distribution were examined and their applicability to petrological problems was examined. In addition to articles on pollutants and contaminated sites, Bernd Voland published on the scientific history of geochemistry in the GDR .
