Magdalena Adriaantje (Magda) Berndsen-Jansen (born May 4, 1950 in Leiden ) is a Dutch politician and former police chief .

Berndsen-Jansen worked from 1967 to 1979 as a medical secretary and office manager at Johannes-Stichting, a home for people with intellectual disabilities. In 1980 she joined the social liberal party Democrats 66 (D66). 1985–1990 she was a member of the municipality council of the municipality of Boskoop for this party . In 1990 Berndsen was appointed mayor of Obdam municipality . In 1995 she was appointed mayor of the municipality of Beverwijk . From 2000 to 2002 she was police chief of the Hilversum police district and deputy chief of police in the Gooi en Vechtstreek police region. From 2002 to 2006 she worked as the chief of police in the Gooi en Vechtstreek police region. From 2006 to 2010 she was the police chief of the Fryslân police region .

In 2010 Berndsen-Jansen was elected as a member of the Second Chamber of the States General for D66. In an interview on the occasion of her election, she said that she joined the D66 because she was a "child of the sixties". She also said: “I am for maximum self-realization, of course within the boundaries of our constitutional state. You don't have to do anything and are allowed to do a lot. ”In the D66 parliamentary group, she was the spokesperson for security and justice. Since 2012 she has been the Chair of the Interior Committee of the Second Chamber . She was a member of parliament until 2015. Since 2018 she has been acting mayor of Southwest Fryslân .
