Bernhard Ahrens

Bernhard Ahrens (born December 21, 1905 in Lehe ; † June 5, 1978 ) was a German SPD politician .

Life and work

Ahrens came to Hamburg in 1913 as an eight-year-old boy . After elementary school he trained as a house and ship carpenter . After a few years in the learned profession, he worked in the Hamburg youth movement until 1933 and before 1933 camp manager in the voluntary labor service . After the National Socialist seizure of power , he was dismissed for political reasons and worked again as a foreman.

Ahrens was a member of the SPD. After the Second World War he was employed by the SPD as party secretary.

Ahrens was non-denominational, married and had two children.

Ahrens had been a local councilor in Reinbek since 1946 .

Ahrens was a member of the Schleswig-Holstein State Parliament from 1947 to 1950. He represented the constituency of Pinneberg- Süd in parliament. Ahrens was chairman of the committee for development in the state parliament. As a representative of the Schleswig-Holstein Landtag, he took part in the first Federal Assembly on September 12, 1949 , which elected Theodor Heuss as Federal President .

Public offices

From June 19, 1947 to May 31, 1950, Ahrens was Parliamentary Representative of the Minister for Resettlement and Development in Schleswig-Holstein .
