Bernhard Andres (born April 21, 1951 in Berlin ) is a German police officer and politician ( Die Republikaner ).

Life

Andres was elected on August 20, 1988 to succeed Klaus Weinschenk as chairman of the REP regional association in Berlin . Under his leadership, the Republicans succeeded in entering the House of Representatives with 11 members in the Berlin election in 1989 ; Andres became the group leader .

After the unexpected success, disputes arose within the regional association, in particular a power struggle between Andres and Carsten Pagel . Andres was confirmed as state chairman in a battle vote, but was removed from office on September 10, 1989 by the then REP federal chairman Franz Schönhuber . The official reason for this was that Andres had misrepresented a press release from the federal association and forwarded it to the press; In fact, the parliamentary group and party had made corresponding requests to Schönhuber. Soon after, Andres left the REP with two other MPs and founded the Association of German Democrats (DDD) with a total of 17 supporters , which participated in the 1990 federal election with a state list . Andre's successor as parliamentary group leader was Frank Degen , and Pagel eventually took over the party's state chairmanship.

Alexandra Kliche, who was temporarily deputy state chairman under Andres and who later left the party, reported on various internal quarrels and irregularities in which Andres was involved; Among other things, he is said to have police attacked an internal party opponent. In 1989 Andres was investigated for bodily harm , damage to property and coercion .
