Bernhard Dilling
Bernhard "Hadti" Dilling (born May 4, 1932 in Pfarrkirchen , Lower Bavaria; † March 22, 1994 ibid) was a German painter , graphic artist , sculptor and set designer .
Life
From 1951 to 1952 Dilling attended the Augsburg Art School , and from 1952 to 1957 he studied graphics, sculpture and set design at the Munich Art Academy under Emil Preetorius and Helmut Jürgens . After a traineeship at the Gärtnerplatztheater in Munich, he was subsequently engaged as a set designer at several theaters: Between 1957 and 1962 he was at the Stadttheater Basel . Here he worked with the opera singer Grace Bumbry on a production of the opera Samson et Dalila and with the Russian ballet master Waclaw Orlikowsky on a production of the opera Swan Lake .
From 1962 to 1963 he worked at the Hessian State Theater in Wiesbaden , from 1963 to 1968 at the Munster Municipal Theaters . There he was responsible for the set design of numerous opera, operetta and drama productions.
From 1969 Dilling lived as a freelance artist in his birthplace Pfarrkirchen, from around 1971 in the neighboring village of Postmünster . In his art he made use of a variety of techniques such as oil on canvas , screen printing , graphics and lithography . He was also active in sculpting and making sculptures.
Bernhard Dilling died in the spring of 1994 at the age of 61 in Pfarrkirchen.
