Life

Fink studied from 1991 to 2001 a. a. Biology at the University of Vienna , in 2003 he did his doctorate on the subject of Second to Fourth Digit Ratio in Relation to Face and Body Shape. In 2001 he founded the company Biosocial Science Information in Biedermannsdorf . From 2002 to 2005 he worked as a postdoc at the University of Vienna, from 2005 to 2007 at the University of Göttingen , also as a postdoc. From 2013 he was a scholarship holder in the Heisenberg program for three years , from May 2018 to February 2019 a fellow of the Hanse Wissenschaftskolleg in the project The Evolution and Function of Human Dance in Delmenhorst .

research

Fink is the author of numerous specialist articles that deal with human appearance and behavior. The citation index of the publications ( h -index) in which he was involved is 36 according to ISI. Fink published u. a. about the physical attractiveness of men and women and choice of partner, including the signals of body movements (e.g. dancing and walking). His diverse research fields include, in particular, the optical perception of human skin and facial symmetry. This also includes research on relevant population differences. Another focus is research on the relationship between finger length and characteristics of “masculinity”, which are controversial in terms of method and content. For years, he represented popular scientific presentations of his research results as a guest in several television and radio programs.
