Bernhard König (politician)

Ulrich Niklaus Bernhard König (born December 28, 1914 in Schönbühl ; † May 16, 2011 in Jegenstorf ; legal resident in Wiggiswil ) was a Swiss doctor and politician ( NA , Republican ).

Life

The doctor's son Otto König attended primary school in Jegenstorf and graduated from the Free Gymnasium in Bern in 1930. Bernhard König, who was a member of the Zofingia , studied medicine at the University of Bern and received his doctorate in 1943.

As a result - in the fifth generation of the König family of doctors who had been practicing in Jegenstorf since 1811 - he headed a surgical practice there. He also worked as a doctor at the Hindelbank women's penal institution . From 1970 to 1985 he was chief physician at the Jegenstorf District Hospital. He was president of the Bern-Land Medical District Association and was a member of the World Federation of Doctors Who Respect Human Life , which campaigned against abortion .

In 1965, König served as municipal vice- president , and from 1966 to 1969 as municipal president (president of the municipal assembly) of Jegenstorf. In addition, he represented in the years 1972 to 1975, the Republican Party of James Schwarzenbach in the National Council . Bernhard König advocated the independence and neutrality of Switzerland with a conservative attitude and supported Schwarzenbach's xenophobic advances.

Bernhard König was of the Evangelical Reformed denomination. He married Käthi Hunziker, the daughter of the primary school teacher Walter Hunziker.
