Bernhard Loibner (born June 22, 1965 in Sankt Veit an der Glan , Carinthia) is an Austrian composer , musician of electronic music and media artist.

Life

In addition to live concerts of electronic music, his artistic work includes compositions for contemporary dance and theater as well as video, film and radio. In addition to musical compositions, he has expanded his work into the audiovisual field. His experimental electronic music and audiovisual pieces ("visual music") have been played at concerts, performances and for filming.

His work is characterized by the use of live electronic music and the use of the computer as an independent instrument. The resulting diverse sound structures range from silence to noise. Another aspect of his work is the combination of different media forms of expression. He deals with the development of his own software for composition and sound design . He understands programming and composition or sound design as two ways of looking at the same process.

His joint works include works by the duo “Nerve Theory”, which works with the US video artist Tom Sherman in the fields of sound, video and voice, as well as joint concerts with musicians such as Karlheinz Essl , O. Blaat, Bernhard Gál and João Castro Pinto et al. a. Commissioned works include music for several films by director Mara Mattuschka , performances by the Austro-French collective Supermas and for the Austrian broadcasting company ORF .

His music and videos have been released on CD and DVD . Participation in numerous festivals and a. Ars Electronica (Linz), Elektra (Montreal), Stuttgarter Filmwinter , ZAC 99 (Paris), Cybersonica (London), Arsonica (Seville), Generator (Vienna) and Unsound (Krakow).
