Bernhard Müller (officer)
Bernhard “Beni” Müller (born March 9, 1957 ) is a Swiss professional officer ( division officer ) and commander of the Swiss Air Force.
Life
Müller grew up in Wettingen in the Aargau and also attended the teachers' seminar there. He later graduated from the University of Zurich .
In 1987 he became chief flight instructor when the Super Pumas were introduced . After various posts as a career officer in the Swiss Air Force , he was Chief of Operations Air Force and Deputy Commander Air Force from April 1, 2009 to December 31, 2017.
At its meeting on March 22, 2017, the Federal Council decided to promote Müller as the successor to Aldo C. Schellenberg to the command of the Swiss Air Force on January 1, 2018 . Instead of Müller, Werner Epper became deputy commander of the air force.
Since 2009 Müller has been a member of the board of directors of the Swiss air traffic control system Skyguide .
Military functions
As a militia officer, Bernhard Müller had the following functions:
- 2001–2003: Commander Alpnach Airfield (ad hoc)
- 2000–2002: Chief of Staff Flieger Brigade 31
- 1993–1999: General Staff Officer Staff Flieger Brigade 31
- 1989–1992: Commander Air Transport Squadron 6
