Aldo Carlo Schellenberg (born September 9, 1958 in Bülach ; authorized to live in Höri ) is a Swiss professional officer ( corps commander ), chief operations officer of the Swiss army and deputy to the chief of the army .

Life

Schellenberg attended schools in Bülach, most recently the Zürcher Unterland canton school , which he graduated with a type C Matura in 1979 . From 1979 he studied economics at the University of Zurich and graduated in 1986 with a licentiate. From 1986 to 1991 he was an assistant at the Institute for Business Research at the University of Zurich. 1991 doctorate he at Edwin Rühli to Dr. oec. publ. From 1992 to 2011 he was the owner of a management consulting company which his wife now runs. His report for the public prosecutor in the Swissair trial contained calculation errors and was described by the court as unusable. He was also a lecturer at the Institute for Corporate Accounting and Controlling at the University of Bern from 2003 to 2011 . From 2006 to 2009 he completed a postgraduate degree in business law at the University of Bern , which he obtained in 2009 with an LL.M. completed.

From July 1, 2010, Schellenberg worked with a 60 percent workload as commander of the Mountain Infantry Brigade 12 of the Swiss Army . On January 1, 2012 he became chief of the army staff with a full-time promotion to division general . From January 1, 2013 to December 31, 2017, he was in command of the Swiss Air Force .

In spring 2016 the new Federal Councilor Guy Parmelin stopped the procurement of a new anti-aircraft system. The project group headed by Corps Commander Schellenberg suggested a system that did not meet the requirements.

At its meeting on March 22, 2017, the Federal Council decided to promote Schellenberg to Chief Operations of the Swiss Armed Forces on January 1, 2018. His successor as commander of the Swiss Air Force was Bernhard Müller on this date . Schellenberg will retire at the end of 2020, and Laurent Michaud will replace him as Commander of Operations .

Aldo Schellenberg is married and has four children.
