Bernhard Morrien († February 21, 1581 in Münster ) was provost of the cathedral in the prince-bishopric of Münster .

Life

Origin and family

Bernhard Morrien came from the Westphalian noble family Morrien , which was one of the leading families in the knighthood in the Middle Ages and early modern times and held the office of Hereditary Marshal in the Duchy of Münster from 1350 to 1691 . He was the son of Dietrich Morrien and his wife Anna von Valke zu Rockel. She was an heir daughter. So the Falkenhof in Rheine came into the possession of the Morriens. Bernhard's brother Alexander († 1587) was a cathedral scholaster in Osnabrück. Bernhard had studied at the University of Heidelberg and was first canon in Münster.
