Bernhard Nebel

Bernhard Nebel (born May 6, 1956 in Hamburg ) is a German scientist of computer science and artificial intelligence .

He is a professor at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg , where he holds the chair for Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence at the Institute for Computer Science. He is known for his contributions to action planning, spatial closure and robotics . His CS Freiburg RoboCup team was world champion in the class of medium-sized robots at the RoboCup in 1998, 2000 and 2001 . Bernhard Nebel and his group also developed the first autonomous table football system.

Bernhard Nebel received his diploma from the University of Hamburg in 1980. He received his doctorate in 1989 from the University of Saarland . His doctoral supervisor was Wolfgang Wahlster .

Bernhard Nebel is a Fellow of the European Coordinating Committee for Artificial Intelligence (ECCAI) and the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AAAI). He has also been a member of the German Academy of Sciences Leopoldina since 2009 . In 2011 he was accepted as a full member of the Academia Europaea .
