Bernhard Strödel

Bernhard Friedrich Strödel (born June 11, 1828 in Annaberg , † July 19, 1889 in The Hague ) was a Saxon lawyer and politician.

Life

Bernhard Strödel was the son of the Markscheider in Annaberg Friedrich August Strödel. After attending the public school in Annaberg and the grammar school in Bautzen and Freiberg, he studied law at the University of Leipzig from 1848 to 1851. In 1849 he became a member of the Corps Guestphalia Leipzig . After completing his studies, he first entered the civil service and became an actuary at the District Court of Annaberg and in Dresden. From 1861 he was a lawyer and notary in Dresden, where he took over the office of his uncle Rudolf Eisenstuck. In 1878 he was appointed to the Council of Justice and belonged to the Saxon State Court from around this time until his death in 1889 .

Strödel had been a Dresden city councilor since 1866 and was one of the tax and economic reformers. From 1869 to 1873 he sat as a conservative member of the constituency of Dresden 4 in the second chamber of the Saxon state parliament . In 1875 he was one of the founders of the Conservative State Association . From 1875 to 1880 he was its chairman and until 1889 its deputy chairman. He was also a co-founder of the Conservative Association in Dresden. As the leader of the conservatives in Saxony, he helped set up the German Conservative Party . He died in the city hospital of The Hague while taking a bath in Scheveningen .
