Bernhard Thüssing

Friedrich Bernhard Thüssing (born August 10, 1810 in Ostbevern ; † August 2, 1881 in Dortmund ) was a judicial commissioner, notary and politician. As such, he was a member of the Frankfurt National Assembly .

Life

Thüssing was born in Ostbevern as the son of the rent master and prince-bishop's notary Georg Heinrich Joseph Thüssing. From 1829 to 1831 he studied law in Bonn and Heidelberg. From 1831 to 1844 he was judicial commissioner and notary in Münster, then in Ahlen and from 1845 to 1862 in Warendorf and finally until 1881 as judicial councilor in Dortmund.

After 1845 he was a member of the Magistrate in Warendorf. In 1848/1849 he was a leader in the democratic movement in Warendorf. He became an opponent of Wilhelm Emmanuel von Kettelers . He countered the development of the modern state to its conservative loyalty to the church:

"The state is the only legal subject that has its legal existence from itself, from the collective will of the whole people, but not the community."

From 1848 to 1849 he was the chairman of the Volksverein for German Freedom and Unity in Warendorf. In March 1848 he was the co-signer of a sympathetic address Warendorf citizens to the rebels in Berlin. In December 1848 he was temporarily imprisoned for participating in the tax refusal movement in Warendorf. 1850 acquittal by a jury in Hamm. The disciplinary proceedings for political activities in the years 1848/1849 also ended with an acquittal by the Warendorf Council of Lawyers.

From February 22, 1849 to May 30, 1849 he represented the 19th Province of Westphalia (Lengerich) parliamentary group Deutscher Hof in the Frankfurt National Assembly. His predecessor was Wilhelm Emmanuel von Ketteler.

In 1849 he was a member of the 2nd Chamber of the Prussian Landtag in Berlin in the Extreme Left.
