Bernardino Realino
Bernardino Realino (born December 1, 1530 in Carpi , Italy, † July 2, 1616 in Lecce , Italy) was an Italian mayor, Jesuit and priest . He is venerated as a saint in the Catholic Church .
Life
Bernardino Realino was the prosecutor and mayor of his hometown of Carpi. Due to an apparition of Mary , he joined the Jesuit order at the age of 34 . In 1567 he was ordained a priest and from 1574 worked as an extremely popular preacher, confessor and pastor with great success with the population of Apulia. Bernardine was by Pope Leo XIII. 1895 blessed - and of Pope Pius XII. 1947 canonized . He is the patron saint of Lecce. His feast day in the liturgy is July 2nd .
