Bernward Hölting

Bernward Hölting (born May 22, 1930 in Kiel ; † January 11, 2015 in Mainz ) was a German hydrogeologist .

Life

Hölting studied at the University of Kiel and was there at the Geological Institute. In the late 1950s he was in San Salvador . Then he was at the Hessian State Office for Soil Research , where he became the chief geology director. He was also a lecturer at the University of Marburg and from 1982 honorary professor .

1980 to 1987 he headed the Hydrogeology Section of the German Geological Society .

He was the author of a standard work on hydrogeology and published, for example, on mineral springs in Hessen and the geogenic chemical composition of groundwater.

Hölting had been a member of the Catholic student association AV Rheno-Guestfalia Kiel since 1952 .
