Berrick Barnes (born May 28, 1986 in Brisbane ) is an Australian rugby union player who is active for the Australian national team and the Queensland Reds . He usually plays on the connector or inner three-quarters positions .
Career
Barnes began his career in 2005 as a rugby league player with the Brisbane Broncos . After a year he moved to the Reds. He developed into one of the best players on the team, which, however, could only place in the lower part of the table. At the 2007 World Cup , he ran for the first time for the Australian national team in the game against Japan .
After the retirement of Stephen Larkham , who for years was the set link for Australia, Barnes became a regular of the "Wallabies" and has since been one of the main pillars of the team together with Matt Giteau . In the coming season of the multinational Super 14 tournament , he will leave the Reds and play for the Waratahs of New South Wales .
