Berten D'Hollander

Berten D'Hollander (born in Tilerode , Temse , Belgium ) is a Belgian flutist and university professor.

Live and act

After finishing school, Berten D'Hollander studied the flute and was already active as a student piccolo flutist at the Flemish Opera. After completing his concert exam, he performed with the orchestra of the Royal Ballet of Flanders, the Belgian National Orchestra and the La Monnaie orchestra . Invitations as a solo flutist to concerts in Europe, the United States and Japan followed. He often gives concerts with well-known musicians such as Eliane Reyes, Boyan Vodenitcharov, Alain Raës and France Springuel.

A special focus of his artistic commitment is the interpretation of contemporary music for flute. As the soloist of the Ensemble Musique Noevelles , D'Hollander performed works by Claude Ledoux, Jean-Paul Dessy, Michael Finnissy, Brice Pauset, Dmitri Yanov-Yanovski and others. In his arrangements with Alfredo Marcucci and Steve Houben , he also moves in the field of tango and jazz .

D'Hollander was a sought-after flute teacher from an early age and was appointed professor of flute at the Lemmensinstitut of the Hogeschool voor Wetenschap & Kunst in Löwen at the age of 25 . Since 2001 he has been a lecturer at the Cologne University of Music and Dance , where he supervises a flute class both at the Cologne headquarters and, for some time, at the department in Aachen . In addition, he regularly gives master classes around the world .
