Bert Steines
Peter Berthold "Bert" Steines (born December 30, 1929 in Pfalzel , near Trier ; † September 21, 1998 in Alten-Buseck near Gießen ) was a German athlete who - starting for the Federal Republic - was a successful 110- in the 1950s Meter hurdler was.
He won the bronze medal at the European Athletics Championships in 1954 (14.7 s). At the Olympic Games in 1956 , he was eliminated in the interim.
In 1954 and 1955 he was German champion in the 110 meter hurdles and was always in the top three of the German championships from 1953 to 1959. In the 200-meter hurdles distance, which had been deleted from the championship program since 1965, he was German champion in 1951 and 1953–1956.
Bert Steines belonged to the Rot-Weiß Koblenz association. During his competition time he was 1.80 m tall and weighed 77 kg. His brother Günther Steines was also a successful athlete.
