Besnik Bajram Mustafaj (born September 23, 1958 in Bajram Curri ) is an Albanian writer and former foreign minister of the country.

Besnik Mustafaj completed a philological degree after leaving school and received his doctorate in French language and literature in 1982 . From 1983 to 1991 he worked as a lecturer and lecturer for foreign language literature at the University of Tirana. He also worked as a writer and translator.

In 1990 he was a co-founder of the Democratic Party of Albania . He has been a member of the Albanian Parliament since 1991 . Between 1992 and 1997, Mustafaj represented his home country as ambassador to France and was also the authorized representative of Albania to UNESCO . From 2001 to 2005 he headed the permanent delegation of Albania to the European Parliament .

From 2005 to 2007 he was Foreign Minister of the Republic of Albania under Sali Berisha .

Besnik Mustafaj is the author of several scientific books on poetics and aesthetics. He is married and has two children.
