Betina Kern

Betina Anna Kern (born January 22, 1947 in Coburg ) is a former German diplomat who was last ambassador to Nicaragua from 2008 to 2012 .

Life

After graduating from high school , Betina Kern began studying law in 1966 and passed the first state examination in 1971 . She then studied English law at King's College London from 1972 to 1973 and then completed her legal preparatory service until 1977 , which she completed in 1977 with the second state examination. She then worked as a research assistant at the Free University of Berlin between 1978 and 1981 .

In 1981, she joined then in the Foreign Service one, then completed until 1983, the attaché training and also put out in 1983 their promotion to Doctor of rights with a dissertation on "Rescission" for breach of contract in English law at the University of Marburg from. She then worked from 1983 to 1988 at the Foreign Office and then at the embassy in Portugal until 1994 .

After being employed again in the Foreign Office, she was head of the cultural department at the embassy in Italy between 2000 and 2004 , before she was then head of the Andean countries department in the Foreign Office from 2004 to 2008 .

Betina Kern had been ambassador to Nicaragua since 2008 and held this office until she retired in 2012. His successor was the previous ambassador to Uruguay , Karl-Otto König .
