Cases of fraud were a pseudo-docu-soap in the daily afternoon program of the private television station RTL . The series was produced by Norddeich TV.

The series showed what cheating , a secret double life or false accusations, for example within a family or partnership, can destroy and how people fight for the truth. For example, a woman discovered by chance that her loving husband, who was often on the road as a sales representative, has a second family in another city.

- The series played in the same series as Die Schulermittler , as Susanne Kaspary, commissioner at the school investigators, had a guest appearance in the same role. For the pilot series of Fraud Cases, which comprised 40 episodes, the series Die Schulermittler , which was actually shown at 5:00 pm, paused from April 26 to June 23, 2010. The second season with 65 episodes was broadcast on November 22, 2010. The production of the 5th season (the repetition of the first and second season count as the third and fourth season respectively) took place in June 2011. The broadcast began on January 9, 2012 and ended on August 24, 2012. The sixth season started with Beginning of 2013. Season 7 began broadcasting on November 4, 2013. After that, older episodes were initially repeated. In 2017, however, RTL decided to no longer include the series in its daily afternoon program due to falling audience ratings. Repetitions are only shown again at different times on the weekend and at night.

The very good ratings of Die Schulermittler were exceeded at that time with an average market share in the target group of 14 to 49 year olds of 27.2%. The series reached its top market share on January 18, 2011 with 35.4 percent in the target group.
