The car dealers - haggle, buy, test drive was a pseudo-documentary that was broadcast on RTL television. The contents after script should represent entertaining stories of car sellers as fake documentary series. The show was z. B. used as a break between or after Formula 1 broadcasts and was available online at TVNOW for 30 days .

Concept of broadcast

The broadcast was a pseudo-documentary that was supposed to give the impression of a documentary, although the plot was based on a fixed script. This impression was achieved through various stylistic and dramaturgical means:

  • Suggestion of a real situation through fade-ins, voiceovers or "interviews" with the actors,
  • exhibited lack of terminology of the actors or below-average problem-solving ability,
  • Simulation of natural dialogues by allowing slip of the tongue, speaking pauses and cluttering,
  • detailed representation of the sales area.

The consequences usually had a self-contained plot. There are hardly any surprising twists compared to a court show or talk show .

The actors

In the show, vehicles were sold to fictitious customers by various car dealers .

Jörg (r.) And Dragan from Die Autoh Händler im Mega-Park , 2011

The two used car dealers Jörg Krusche and Dragan Prgesa from Cologne-Worringen are probably the best-known actors in this show. Sometimes they use questionable sales techniques to sell every used car to their customers. The "Micha", which completes the trio, deserves to be emphasized, who in this role, to his own regret, is constantly insulted by his two bosses and called "Micha, you prostitute".

As a rule, one car is bought and sold per episode with a profit that often exceeds the 50 percent threshold. Sometimes alleged charity campaigns are carried out and minibuses are given away to children's or old people's homes - of course, in return for a donation receipt. On the occasion of a thank you, the Cologne homeless were invited for a tram ride with a goulash cannon . Furthermore, the actors stand out with sexist sayings and actions. One episode pokes fun at the homosexuality of a car buyer. The roles of homosexual performers are written to confirm stereotypes and prejudices about gays.

In reality, the two actors have been organizing vehicles for RTL productions since 1992 and converting them, e.g. B. for Der Stau , Voll normal , Die Wache , SK-Kölsch and Thanks Anke .

Other actors (selection)

The luxury car salesman shown is a specialist in high-class cars and sells luxury brands in Munich under the motto “miles away from the average”. Customers are often portrayed as naïve nouveau riche, for whom price is irrelevant.

The Alfa Romeo dealers are employed in an Alfa Romeo car dealership in Mönchengladbach . They try to sell the cars with quick-witted sales arguments.

The Mercedes-Benz seller works as a Mercedes seller in Dubai. His clients are mainly newly rich, German couples. In his role, he relies on extraordinary sales strategies. This includes trips through the desert or on racetracks to demonstrate the qualities of the cars.

There are more actors from different car dealerships, e. B. Nobel cars of all kinds from Hamburg. High quality automobiles are sold. Customers are wealthy married couples, but sometimes also sons or daughters of wealthy business people. A salesman in Bergheim specializes in the sale of American vehicles. The represented customers are mostly looking for extravagant automobiles that are difficult to acquire.

Trivia

Jörg Krusche and Dragan Prgesa had, through their life as “windy car dealers” for this show, achieved a status that earned them various appearances at discotheque events, especially in the Riu Palace Mallorca , in the mega-park and occasionally at new openings and car shows.
