Bettina Gaus (born December 5, 1956 in Munich ) is a German journalist .

Life

Bettina Gaus - daughter of the journalist and diplomat Günter Gaus - attended the German School of Journalism in Munich and studied political science at the Ludwig Maximilians University there . In 1979 she completed an internship at the Hamburger Morgenpost , after which she worked for the Münchner Abendzeitung, among others . From 1983 to 1989 she was a political editor for the German-language program of Deutsche Welle . From 1989 to 1996, based in Nairobi , she reported on Africa for the daily newspaper (taz), for ARD stations and news agencies . Gaus headed the parliamentary office of the taz from 1996 to 1999, and has been the paper's political correspondent ever since.
