Bettina Schliephake-Burchardt

Bettina "Betty" Schliephake-Burchardt (born May 14, 1971 in Miraflores , Peru as Bettina Schliephake) is a German master confectioner , author and television judge.

Career

Bettina Schliephake was born in Miraflores, Peru and grew up in the Volksdorf district of Hamburg . After completing her apprenticeship as a foreign language correspondent, she completed her apprenticeship as a pastry chef at the Steidl pastry shop in Hamburg from 1989 to 1992. In 1993 she founded her company Betty's Sugar Dreams, which was renamed a GmbH in 2009. There she is registered as managing director together with Irmtraud Schliephake in the commercial register. Her book "Motivtorten-Basics" was published in 2009 and was published in the 6th edition in 2016.

In 2010 she won the gold medal and the “Best in Class” award at Cake International in England. In 2012 she stood in front of the camera with Frank Steidl and Thomas Horn for the Kabel 1 format Die Torten-Tuner.

The Hamburg native has been giving courses for private individuals and professionals (bakers and confectioners) in Germany, Austria and Switzerland since 2013. In the SAT.1 format " Das große Backen " and its offshoots " Das große Promibacken " and "Das große Backen - Die Profis", she has been an integral part of the jury alongside Christian Hümbs since 2015 .

She has been a member of the board of the Hamburg Confectioners' Guild since 2015. Schliephake received her master craftsman's certificate in 2016 in the confectionery trade. As the first European, she faced the American cake association ICES in 2016 and passed the exam to become a Certified Master Sugar Artist in Alabama. Also in 2016, she started her own YouTube channel with instructions and recipe videos.

At the Akademie Deutsches Bäckerhandwerk in Weinheim, she took part in a further training course for chocolatiers , masters in the confectionery trade and bakery trade in 2017 and became one of the first certified chocolate sommeliers worldwide.

Schliephake celebrated its 25th company anniversary in Hamburg in 2018. As co-author of the specialist book “Törtchen: Kunstvolle Konditorei im Kleinformat”, published in 2018, she contributed 12 recipes and instructions under the heading “Cake Design”. Further co-authors besides the editor Bernd Siefert (former world champion of the confectionery trade) were Norman Hunziker, Matthias Ludwigs (pastry chef of the year 2009) and Felix Vogel.
