The big baking (own spelling: DAS GROSSE BACKEN) is a baking competition that selects the best hobby baker in Germany from among the candidates. The TV show has been broadcast by Sat.1 since December 1, 2013 and is based on the Bake Off show concept , which was first implemented in the United Kingdom in August 2010 under the title The Great British Bake Off .
concept
The aim of the program is to determine the best hobby baker in a baking competition. Ten candidates for the show are found through applications and auditions, the number of which is reduced in each episode by the judgment of the jury. During the first season, the application phase was also shown on television.
In each episode, the candidates are given several tasks. They have to contest this in a tent on the grounds of Schloss Herzfelde in Uckermark , Brandenburg . Since the sixth season, the baking tent has been on the grounds of Stülpe Castle in Nuthe-Urstromtal , Brandenburg. In the first and second season two candidates and since the third season one candidate leave the show at the end of the episode. In the final there are four (seasons 1 and 2) or three candidates (since season 3). The winner can publish his favorite recipes in a baking book, receives 10,000 euros and a trophy in the form of a golden “cupcake”.
