Christian Hümbs

Christian Hümbs (born October 22, 1981 in Oberhausen ) is a German confectioner . He has been named Pastry Chef of the Year several times .

Career

Hümbs was a pastry chef at the Stromburg at Johann Lafer's , later in the two-star restaurant La Mer on Sylt and the Haerlin restaurant in Hamburg, which was also awarded two Michelin stars. From May 2017 to April 2019 he worked in the Munich restaurant Atelier in the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich . During this time, the restaurant was awarded three Michelin stars . In April 2019 he left the studio.

Since November 2019 he has been head pastry chef at The Dolder Grand hotel in Zurich. A larger audience is he as a judge of the Sat1 telecast The large jaws known.

Hümbs is considered to be one of the best pâtissiers in Germany. He became known for desserts that work with vegetables and herbs as well as reduced sweetness. In the restaurants La Mer and Haerlin he created flavor menus with which he designed salty dishes from the perspective of the pastry chef.
