Bettina Sokol

Bettina Sokol (* 1959 in Bremen ) is a German lawyer.

biography

Sokol studied after high school law . In 1990 she was appointed judge at the administrative court in Bremen, from 1993 to 1996 she was seconded to the Federal Constitutional Court as a research assistant .

In 1996, at the suggestion of the Greens, she was appointed to succeed Hans Maier-Bode as the State Commissioner for Data Protection of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia . At that time, at 36 years of age, she was the youngest state data protection officer in Germany. In 2004 she was re-elected for a second term of eight years.

2009 Sokol was from the Bremen City Parliament as President of the Court of the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen selected. She is the successor to Lothar Spielhof.
