Helga Block

Helga Block (* 1954 in Münster ) is an administrative lawyer and has been the data protection officer of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia since 2015 .

After completing his studies, Block worked for the Detmold and Düsseldorf district governments . Since 1988 she has worked in the Ministry of the Interior of North Rhine-Westphalia . There she worked in the internal department since 2001 and was responsible for constitutional law and data protection , among other things . In this function, the ministerial director was also the regional returning officer for North Rhine-Westphalia until 2015.

At the suggestion of the Minister of the Interior and Local Affairs Ralf Jäger , the state government had decided to propose Helga Block to the North Rhine-Westphalian state parliament as the new state commissioner for data protection and freedom of information. The election took place on September 4, 2015. She took up her post as Ulrich Lepper's successor on October 1, 2015.

Helga Block is married, has two children and has lived in Furth , a district of Neuss , since 1986 .
