Betty's Bay ( Afrikaans : Bettysbaai ) is a small town with 1,380 inhabitants (as of 2011) in the municipality of Overstrand , District Overberg , Western Cape Province in South Africa . The city is located between Kleinmond and Pringle Bay , 42 kilometers southeast of Gordon's Bay at a height of 0 meters on the coast on the R44 ( Clarence Drive ).
The elongated place, an approximately eight kilometers long street village, was developed around 1930 by Harold Nixon Porter. The place was named after Betty Youlein, the daughter of Porter's boss.
history
Between 1912 and 1930, a whaling station was located here, from which the present-day town slowly developed.
