history

Production facility from 1934 in Berlin-Gesundbrunnen

Eugen Beyer , who was born in Stockholm in 1903 and grew up in St. Petersburg , moved with his family to Sweden after the Russian Revolution and came to Berlin in the early 1920s, the center of audio technology at the time. In 1924, in the early years of the sound film , he founded a company in Berlin to manufacture cinema speakers. Since the mid-1920s, the company that he ran with his brother Sergej (* 1901) traded under the name of Gebrüder Beyer GmbH. From 1934 the company was based in Nordbahnstrasse in Berlin-Gesundbrunnen . In 1937 it developed the first dynamic headphones with the DT 48 dynamic (measuring) telephone . Two years later the dynamic microphone M 19 followed, which was used by the Reichs-Rundfunk-Gesellschaft (RRG) as a standard device for reports . Further developments were pressure chamber loudspeakers and a dictation machine . The DT 48 was produced without interruption until 2012, when a supplier for the membrane material could no longer be found.

Due to the destruction of the factory and machines in the Second World War, the company moved to Heilbronn in 1948 . There the company initially produced in a former officers' mess on Bismarckstrasse. In 1959, after the sudden death of Eugen Beyer, his son Fred R. Beyer (1934–2008) took over the management. In 1960 the company moved into a new building in Theresienstraße, where development, construction and production, sales and commercial management are now located. In 1966 the E 1000 microphone was used on the Beatles' Germany tour .

In 2005, the Service and Logistics Center (SLC) with shipping, the precast parts warehouse and the service and repair department was established in August-Häußer-Straße in the Böckingen district . After this building was finally no longer big enough, the new Shipping Center Talheim (SCT) in Talheim's industrial area Rauher Stich was moved into in July 2013. In the same year, the company's own factory outlet was opened at the company headquarters in Theresienstraße in Heilbronn.
