The Žilina Airport (Slov. Letisko Žilina ) is located approx. 10 km west of Žilina near the village of Dolný Hričov in north-western Slovakia .
The airport was built in the 1970s to replace the abandoned Brezovský Majer Airport in Žilina. The first flight took place on May 4, 1972; The airport was officially opened on August 2, 1974.
Airlines and Destinations
Czech Airlines offered the only regular flight connection to Prague . This was initially discontinued in August 2012.
